The Teddy Bear Picnic

In 1907, American composer J. K. Bratton wrote the melody,Â “The Teddy Bear Two Step,” during theÂ peak of the Teddy Bear popularity periodÂ that had hit the United States. Can you imagineÂ adults carrying teddy bear briefcases and teddy bear purses? The Teddy Bear Two Step become Teddy Roosevelt’s theme song.

In 1930, an Englishman wrote words for the melody and gave it the title, “The Teddy Bear Picnic.” Share the song and sing along with the kids and their teddy bears. Or, you could just share and sing the second verseÂ as you beginÂ your Teddy Bear Picnic party with Teddy Bear treats and fun teddy bear activities to play, such as Teddy Bear Hide ‘n Seek.
