Poems for grandparents are one way of expressing love for our grandparents. Another way grandchildren can express their love and respect are through acts of kindness.

We celebrate our GrandMothers on Mother’s Day in May and GrandFathers on Father’s Day in June. Words in poems for grandparents alone cannot express our love and respect for our grandparents. We should also express our feelings through the way we treat those we love, often – not just a few times a year.

Show Your Love with Acts of Kindness

  • Set an example for your children and grandchildren ~ give something of yourself by helping your loved one, an elder neighbor, or friend with chores, shopping, or paperwork on a schedule they can count on.
  • And, when you have time, take them out for lunch, a drive, or a show. If your loved one or friend, can’t get out easily, bring lunch, flowers, and a video and treat them to “in” events to brighten up their days.
  • There are many grandparents living in nursing homes who don’t have visitors, even on special days. Contact a local nursing home or assisted living facility to get permission to visit. When you visit, share poems for grandparents with them. I’m sure they would enjoy the poems. Create an attractive card to display it.

Poems for Grandparents, Grandmother, Grandfather

Here are a few poems for grandparents to celebrate our grandmothers and grandfathers:

GrandMother’s and GrandFather’s Love

A GrandMother’s Love is the caring thought,
the tender touch and gentle guidance
that we never seem to outgrow.

A GrandFather’s Love is the beacon of hope
through stormy seas and sunny skies
as we travel through uncharted waters.

Grandmothers Are Grand

Grandmothers are mothers who are grand,
Restoring the sense that our most precious things
Are those that do not change much over time
No love of childhood is more subllime,
Demanding little, giving on demand
More inclined than most to grant the wings
On which we fly off to enchanted lands.
Though grandmothers serve as second mothers,
Helping out with young and restless hearts,
Each has all the patience wisdom brings,
Remembering our passions more than others,
Soothing us with old and well-honed arts.

Grandfather’s Love

Grandfather, your love lifts me high,
It makes me rise to the sky.
Grandfather, your love gives me strength,
It encourages me to go the length.
Grandfather, your love shows me respect,
It teaches me what I should expect.
Grandfather, your love means more to me,
It shows me what I should be.

~ Nana’s Corner

Granddads set an example for us
Of what life is all about.
Then often they are overlooked
When praise is handed out.

I’ve seldom taken time to say
How much you mean to me~
I was taking it for granted
That it’s something you can see.

But what if you have never known
These thoughts that are in my heart?
I’ve waited too long to make them plain
So I’m hurrying now to start.

Thank you, Granddad, for the love and care
That you have alwyas shown.
I appreciate you more each day
Now that I am grown.

For a Loving Grandmother

Thinking of you today,
and how you make
the world a nicer place ~
from all the special ways
you car about your family,
to the thoughtfulness
you show others…
And sending you
this Mother’s Day wish
filled with loving appreciation
for your warm heart, your kindness,
and all the other qualities
that make you so very special.

Memories of You

My memories of you
and the days we’ve shared
are full of love,
but you probably know that ~
because you put the love
into every one.

Grandmother’s Gifts of Love

Your love is a rare and beautiful gift
and you show it in so many ways ~
In the pride that you take in your family,
in your words of affection and priase,
In your laughter and warm sense of humor,
in the generous things that you do ~
Your love is a rare and beautiful gift
and there’s no one who shares it
like you.
