The New Year is soon to ring in thoughts of what new beginnings…and endings…are before us and hopes that those we love and hold dear stay safe and healthy in our lives for a very long time. Happy New Year, a poem by Jane-Ann Heitmueller, is a lovely poem that you may want to share with your loved ones and friends as you wish them a happy and healthy New Year.
Happy New Year
Endings and beginnings…the cycles of our life.
Liberal sprinkles greet our days with joy, pain, sadness, strife.
Attitudes and spirits flavor every passing day,
giving us the choice to wrap ourselves in gay or gray.
So, my friend, as you approach this brand new, glistening year;
may your resolution be solid and crystal clear.
May you relish every joy, your sadnesses be few; strife and pain
avoid your hearth in all you think and do.
May good health be your companion, loved ones by your side,
daily laughter, caring friends with you also abide.
May The Father’s loving arms enfold you each new day,
as you strive to do His will..whether at work or play.
From my heart I wish for you a glorious new year,
with remembrance, everyday, I hold your friendship dear.

I really like the line about “the choice to wrap ourselves in gay or gray.” I choose gray too often–it’s just my nature. But I am going to try to be more upbeat and fun in two-oh-one-one!
