Grandparents and Grandchildren | 8 Special Day Grandchild Poems

Grandparents and Grandchildren: Choose from 8 special day grandchild poems for their special day – communion, graduation, or the many other special occasions that grandparents celebrate with grandchildren.

Grandparents and Grandchildren Celebrate!

Grandparents and grandchildren special occasion days are always around the corner for you to celebrate together. Celebrate special occasions such as a birthday, christening, communion, confirmation, graduation, great report card, wedding day, or other accomplishments with a poem to your grandchild.  Grandparents telling your grandchildren how proud you are or how much your grandchild has meant to you is always meaningful to a grandchild. A grandparents to grandchild poem is something they can cherish for many years to come, a connection to you they will always have.

Grandparents and Grandchildren Special Poem Gift Idea

One way to make the day special is to share a personal note or poem with each grandchild telling them how proud you are or how much each grandchild has meant to you. It is something they can cherish for many years to come, a connection to you they will always have.

Here is a favorite gift idea of mine: Insert a special photo of the two of you together in a clear, stand-up acrylic frame. But, before you insert  your grandparent and grandchildren (or grandchild) special photo, attach one of these poems to the back. This special gift with the special poem will be a gift your grandchild can hold on to and keep you close in heart. (Make one for yourself and when your grandchildren come to visit, they will see it is special for you, too!)

Bonus Poem to Entertain

On the humorous side…a poem for a grandchild that might not be able to sit still (I have two out of 5)…The Story of Fidgety Philip. This reminds me of a very good reason we don’t have table cloths on tables when the small ones are present!

Grandparents and Grandchildren Poems for Special Days

Special occasions suggestions for grandparents and grandchildren poems: christening, birthday, communion, confirmation, graduation, great report card, engagement, wedding…or just to say, “We are proud of you, Grandchild!”

Grandparents and Grandchildren Poem #5

Grandchild’s Hand

The promise of tomorrow
And the hope of dreams come true…
A reminder of the childhood
That’s still a part of you…

The wonder of a miracle
From which this love began…
There is so much found in the touch
Of holding a grandchild’s hand.

Grandparents and Grandchildren Poem #6

Child of My Child, Heart of My Heart

Your smile bridges the years between us
I am young again …
discovering the world through your eyes
You have the time to listen
And I have the time to spend.
Delighted to gaze at familiar loved features…
made new in you again
Through you …I’ll see the future
Through me…you’ll know the past
In the present… we’ll love one another
As long as these moments last

Grandparents and Grandchildren Poem #7

Why God Made Little Girls

Special Occasions: birth, christening, communion, confirmation, graduation, any occasion to say “I love you, Granddaughter”

God made the world with its towering trees
Majestic mountains and restless seas
Then paused and said, “It needs one more thing…
Someone to laugh and dance and sing
To commune with nature in quiet hours.”
So God made little girls
With laughing eyes and bouncing curls
With joyful hearts and infectious smiles
Enchanting ways and feminine wiles
And when He’d completed the task He’d begun
he was pleased and proud of the job He’d done,
For the world, when seen through a little girl’s eyes
Greatly resembles Paradise.

Grandparents and Grandchildren Poem #8

Grandchild, It’s Been a Joy

Special Occasions:  birthday, communion, confirmation, graduation, any occasion to say “I love you, Grandchild”

Grandchild, It’s been a joy
since you were small,
to watch you learn and grow,
To share in your accomplishments
and see the warmth you show…

And all the love
and pride that’s felt
keeps growing each year, too,
Because it means so much
to have a grandchild like you.

    “A Missive To My Granddaughters”

    My dearest girls,

How can I begin to tell you
how much your smile warms my heart,
or the enrichment that penetrates my soul
when I feel your arms embrace me?

With you, I am a girl again reliving my own youth
When you share each new life experience with me.
Once again, my own fervor for life springs forth,
As I listen to the enthusiasm that emanates from your cheerful chatter.

    Your joy rejuvenates me.
Your smile pierces my heart and finds its way
To a special place reserved only for you.
Your zest for life gives me hope again for a better world,
And I thrive on your courage that abounds with each day that passes.

    Please know…
That I have saved countless wishes for you alone –
A heart that is forgiving and true,
A mind that is forever open and exploring,
And the courage to face and overcome any obstacle.

I wish you a taste for beauty in whatever presents itself,
A flair of your own like no one else has ever experienced,
An infinite appreciation for all of Nature’s bounty,
And a magnanimous spirit for others less fortunate.

Please know that when I am gone,
I will be with you always in spirit.
Whether it is the sweetness of a Spring rain,
In the coo of a morning dove,
Or the scent of a summer rose,
    You will be reminded,
    And you will know
    That I am there
    With you
    Until we are together..…again.

I thank you for these poems. It’s a long story with much sadness but I never met my granddaughter until she was 18. She is the child of my only child who past away 13 years ago. GOD has blessed me with her and I always want to remind her of how special she is and your poems allow me to do this. Thanks You.

Oh my little one, child of my child
As I await your arrival this day
    I have so many emotions
Happiness, worry, impatience and wonder of it all
I am asking God for your safe arrival into this world
You should know that you are so loved by all of your family
Your mom and dad can hardly wait to meet you and shower you with love
I am your MeMaw for always and excitedly await the first time I hold you
    Love Always
