I’ve been making homemade Halloween costumes since my kids were small. When my son was small, he was into the original Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles. I made him a complete TNMT costume from heavy felt. He loved it. Now he wants one for his son! I wish we had saved it.

As a stay-at-home mom, I made DIY Halloween costumes as a work-at-home job. If you are a talented sewer, it is a great way to earn some extra money. One local mom wanted costumes for her twins to wear in the school’s Halloween parade. She also asked me to make costumes to wear later on for Trick-or-Treating. The outdoor ones were warmer. The indoor ones were for competition to win the prize for best Halloween costume. A few years later, the school eliminated the competition. The parents were too competitive!
