Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Ideas
Father’s Day is here and the kids and grandchildren want to make a special gift for Dad and Grandpa. I don’t think it’s necessary to buy Grandpa a gift to show how much he’s loved. Nothing says, “I love you, Dad” or “I love you, Grandpa” more than a gift made by the kids and grandchildren.
Last Minute Gift Ideas for Father and Grandfather
Dad and Grandpa are the kings for the day so treat them with extra-special Father’s Day cards, Father’s Day gifts, and Father’s Day foods fit for a king:
Father’s Day Cards: Formal Greetings.
Even if the dad or granddad in your family isn’t a shirt-and-tie kind of guy, he’s sure to love this stylish Father’s Day card from FamilyFun. Our Kaitlin made her Dad this Father’s Day card in her third grade art class this week and couldn’t wait to give it to him when she got home yesterday! We were there celebrating an early Father’s Day steak dinner…delicious! Their supermarket allowed kids to decorate large cookies for the Dads for free…Mom just had to buy the cookies. Yummy dessert with Dad’s favorite ice cream!

Father’s Day – Last Minute Grandfather Gift Ideas
Nothing says, “Grandfather, I love you,” more than a personalized gift given from the heart that expresses exactly what your special grandfather meant to you. If you need a last minute gift idea, I have some suggestions. You can use these Father’s Day quotes and sayings for Grandfather to make him one of these special Father’s Day Gifts.
Grandfather Gift Ideas using Grandfather Quotes and Sayings
- You can choose a special quote or saying below and include it with a photo of the two of you together, or with a photo of yourself. Place it in a shadow box and add objects that represent memories that you two share or that remind you of your grandfather.
- Another suggestion is to frame the photo with the saying and decorate the outside of the frame instead.
- If you act quickly, you could also have the saying or quote inscribed on something that your grandfather would enjoy receiving…or…
- For those of you who enjoy embroidery or sewing, you could stitch the saying on a decorative pillow…or you could pay someone to do it for you.
- For someone handy with working with wood, the saying could be carved or burned into a plaque…or printed and decoupaged on wood or glass.
- One idea that was suggested to me is to print the saying or quote in a decorative font, place it in a decorative frame, place “feet” on the four corners and “handles” on the bottom and top front sections of the frame…and you have a personalized tray to give Grandfather for Father’s Day. (more…)

My granddaughter, Kaitlin, and I put our heads together and wrote a special Father’s Day poem for her grandfather, my husband, whom she calls Poppy. This poem is for Grandpa because she wanted a lot of grandchildren to be able to use this poem for their Grandpa. She said to tell you that you can replace the word Grandpa with Poppy, Grandfather, Grand Dad, Granddad, PopPop, or whatever loving term Grandfather is affectionately called.
A Poem for My Grandpa
My Grandpa, you are so special to me,
You teach me to be happy and free.
I love spending our fun days together,
We always find a new adventure.
You don’t mind answering my questions “Why?”,
You pick me up and carry me high.
My Grandpa, you take the time to teach,
And let me see things above my reach.
With you, I always feel safe and secure,
I’ll love you forever, ever more.
We say goodbye with a hug and kiss,
As I make a big, big special wish…
My wish for you, Grandpa, please, please don’t go.
Why? Because I love, love, love you so….

When I read this poem, Grandfathers Are Fathers Who Are Grand, I immediately thought of my grandfather who passed away when I was eight years old. |
I remember sitting on his knee, swimming in the ocean and playing on the beach, combing his blond wavy hair, and accidentally seeing him in his long underwear…The feeling I still experience when I look at his picture is a warm and fuzzy one. He was my Pop Pop.
Also, as I read this poem, Grandfathers Are Fathers Who Are Grand, I see my husband…father and grandfather. His love has always been unselfish, placing his family first above all…He takes the time to share his skills and teach life’s important lessons. He is husband, father, and grandfather…he is Kaitlin’s Poppy, Emily’s PaPa, and he’ll be Luke’s Pop when he begins to speak.
The following grandfather poem is dedicated to all the wonderful, caring grandfathers in celebration of Father’s Day.
Grandfathers Are Fathers Who Are Grand
Grandfathers are fathers who are grand,
Restoring the sense that our most precious things
Are those that do not change much over time.
No love of childhood is more sublime,
Demanding little, giving on demand,
Far more inclined than most to grant the wings
Allowing us to reach enchanted lands.
Though grandfathers must serve as second fathers,
Helping out with young and restless hearts,
Each has all the patience wisdom brings,
Remembering our passions more than others,
Soothing us with old and well-honed arts.
