St. Patrick’s Day Poems: The Shamrock of Ireland

The Shamrock of Ireland
There’s a dear little plant that grows in Ireland.
‘Twas Saint Patrick himself sure that set it.
And the sun on his labor with pleasure did smile.
And a tear from his eyes oft-times wet it.
It grows thro’ the bog, thro’ the brake, and the mireland,
And it’s called the dear little Shamrock of Ireland.
That dear little plant still grows in our land,
Fresh and fair as the daughters of Erin,
Whose smiles can bewitch, and whose eyes can command,
In each climate they ever appear in:
For they shine thro’ the bog, thro’ the …

Parenting Advice: Hang in There, A Poem by Jane-Ann Heitmueller

Seems only when you become a grandparent can you truly reflect, through observing your own children rearing their children, on the path you have just trod and somehow survived!

Hang in There
By Jane-Ann Heitmueller

One time, so many years ago, I too, was thirty- five.
My world was topsy turvy and all days in overdrive.

Twenty-four hours weren’t enough to finish every chore.
My frazzled brain kept screaming…where’s the time..
I need much more!

There never seemed to be a moment free for rest or fun.
My days, from sun up till sundown, were run, run, run, run, …

The best part of decorating in shabby chic style is that it doesn’t have to all …

National Heart Month: Be a Heart Healthy Valentine

An Affair of the Heart
contributed by Margaret Lewin, MD, FACP – Medical Director, Cinergy Health (www.cinergyhealth.com)
February is National Heart Month and not just because of Valentine’s Day. According to the American Heart Association, one in 2.4 American women will lose their lives to heart disease and stroke – the first and third biggest killers of women. In comparison, breast cancer kills one in 29. So let’s look at V.A.L.E.N.T.I.N.E.S. Day from another vantage point:  reducing our risk of heart disease.
Vitamin D plays a significant role in …

Love Poems – Valentine Poems: Love’s Voice

Valentine’s Day is soon to be here. If you are searching for love poems to find special Valentine poems for your special loved one, please read this original love poem written by Jane-Ann Heitmueller.

Love’s Voice

The words, I love you, are just that,
They’re simply words alone.
But I believe that love’s not love
Until it’s truly shown.
It’s shown when we take time to listen
To another’s heart, or when we leave out path
To help another with his part.
We see love in a caring touch, or in a
Sincere tone.
It’s shown when someone changes pace,
So we …
