We sometimes wore "pedal pushers" or slacks, but we mostly wore dresses or skirts and blouses. The skirts were either gathered onto a waistband or pleated. When we got older, we sometimes wore "tight skirts," also known as "straight skirts." We also never wore athletic shoes.
