Staying in Touch with Grandchildren

Filed under: Activities, Grandchildren, Grandparents, Staying in Touch | — Nana @ 7:08 pm
Grandchildren are so wonderful to be with. They bring back happy memories from our parenting days and bring smiles to our grandparenting days. They are what keep us young at heart. Grandchildren give us a chance to be kids again…we get to watch cartoons, play with toys, make sandcastles, visit playgrounds, and visit the land of make believe.

We are lucky to be grandparents in this wonderful, sometimes frustrating, technology age. We can still stay in touch with our grandchildren whether we are around the corner, around the world, or somewhere in between. With online scrapbooks, digital photo albums, webcam sites, interactive games and more, grandparents and grandchildren can stay in touch, stay connected, and visit often just with a few clicks.

You will find posts on Nana’s Corner connecting you with ideas and websites that offer great resources for grandparents looking for ways to stay in touch with their grandchildren.  I’ve added a new category, Staying in Touch, to make it easier for you to stay in touch with ways to stay in touch…lol.

I’ve recently found a new website for grandparents that focuses on Grandparenting and Technology, GrandparentsTLC. Stop by to visit and perhaps you’ll find more ideas on how to stay in touch with your grandchildren using technology.

Happy Grandparenting!

Nana

  1. Nana, I was so happy to come across your website today when I read the article in the New York TImes. Congratulations on the coverage, you must be so proud!

I found the article very heartening because I’ve been running a project for the last few months here in Ireland where I’m bringing video communications to the elderly, disabled and other socially isolated groups. The greatest problem I come across is people not really understanding what video-chatting can offer because they’ve had no prior exposure to the technology. So it’s wonderful for me to be able to reference your blog and the NYT article as evidence of how much joy it can bring.

Best wishes and continued success :-)

  2. Nana - I read the New York Times article, and was thrilled to see your blog mentioned! Congrats!

Thanks for your kind remarks about GrandparentsTLC.com. Grammy Tanda and I enjoy providing ideas for grandparents on how to use technology to connect with grandchildren.

    Once again, thank you.
