Grandparents and Grandchildren Together: Thank you, Grandpa (poem)

Filed under: About Grandparent Poetry, Grandparent Poetry, Poems by NanasCorner, Poems: Grandfather | — Nana @ 4:36 pm

Thank you, Grandpa

K’s and Em’s two grandfathers: Poppy and Grandpa

My grandpa and I have a apecial star
and no matter where we are
I wish I may, I wish I might…
we make a wish each and every night.
My wish for him is to have tomorrow,
for our time to never end with sorrow.
Thank you, Grandpa, for being you
and for your letting me be me,
for taking me in when I was cold
even though you were getting old.
Words can never express how I feel,
you’ve made my life so very real.
I don’t know where I’d be today
if you hadn’t guided me along the way.
What comes next, I don’t know
but I will use my life to show
what you have meant to me.
I’ll hold you forever in my heart
for years and years after we must part.
