Grandparents and grandchildren together can make these fun St. Patrick’s Day crafts in preparation of St. Patrick’s Day fitness activities and celebration of the day itself on the 17th. And when you’re done having so much fun, why not make a special St. Patrick’s treat and exchange homemade St. Patrick’s Day cards wishing each a pot o’ gold, lifetime of luck, and even a little blarney too!
These crafts are easy for young ones and older ones alike:
Rainbow Streamers 
What you’ll need:
- 1 paper plate
- Paper streamers or wide ribbon in rainbow colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple)
- Scissors
- White craft glue
- Piece of ribbon for hanging
Tip: Foam plates work better; double the length of streamers and drape over, doubling the thickness
Use: Ring Around a Pot o’ Gold dance, Rainbow Treasure Hunt
Pot o’ Gold 
What you’ll need:
- 1 black cauldron left over from Halloween, or a large pail painted black or covered with black paper
- 1 large Shamrock made from green paper or large green craft foam hearts.
- gold metallic wrapping paper or yellow tissue paper sheets
Tip: After you have a black pot, attach a large shamrock and fill it with the gold metallic paper or yellow tissue paper.
Use: Ring Around a Pot o’ Gold Dance, Pot o’ Gold Coin Toss
Gold Coin Bean Bags (or you could use chocolate coins) 
What you’ll need:
- 2 six-inch diameter felt circles for each bean bag
- hot glue
- jelly beans
Tip: Glue the bean bag circle edges, fill with jelly beans before you close up.
Use: Pot o’ Gold Coin Toss
St. Patrick’s Day Treat
- Bake or buy large round plain sugar cookies.
- Decorate with rainbows, shamrocks, and leprechaun faces white cake frosting

- icing gels in rainbow colors
- yellow gel for gold coins
- green gel for shamrocks and hat
- black licorice for pot
- Serve with green jello
St. Patrick’s Day Cards – start a new tradition, exchange cards 
What you’ll need:
- card stock
- art supplies
- craft foam shapes
- ribbon
- buttons
- gold charms
- construction paper
- wiggly eyes
- yarn for hair
- use your imagination
