And now, Weight Watchers. No, this grandmother doesn’t want to pay Weight Watchers for something I should be able to do myself. I’ve sucessfully followed their program in the past - I lost 35 pounds and became a life member. That was 7 years ago. In that time, I’ve slowly gained back 10 pounds which is less than the average gain back. So, I see it as I’m ahead of the game. Not so bad…could be worst. What Weight Watchers offers is support. Here on nanascorner.com I hope to offer and receive support, too, for starting and continuing a fitness plan.

Successful Dieting Tips:

  • Add fruits and vegetables in to your meals for a total of 5 cups a day.
  • Hungry? Have a salad - add some lean protein - toss with fat free dressing.
  • Sweet tooth? Add fruits to low carb cereal or have for dessert or snack.
  • 150 calorie dessert: 1/2 cup natural applesauce and 100 calorie pack of cookies.

Update on this grandmother’s fitness plan….hmmm…what plan? my husband asks….

Yes, I DO have a plan, really…just not sharing it with him!  I’ll be sharing it with you, though. I hope that you will share your fitness plan with me and the other readers that stop here to visit, too. My hope is that we all can support each other. We can share exercises, recipes, meal plans, restaurant tips, exercise tapes /shows. Questions, information and advice are always welcome. If you don’t want to leave a comment, you can email me at nanascorner07@gmail.com.  I’ll pass it along.

My school started a Wellness Committee this year. The staff was very receptive to starting “The Biggest Loser” competition. To join, we each donated $20 towards prizes for the winners at the end of 10 weeks.  This Tuesday will be the 4th weigh-in.  At the first weigh-in, I was down 4 pounds; the 2nd week - up two, and the 3rd - no change. That, I rationalize, was pretty good. It was after Valentine’s Day dinner out, lunch with the grandkids at McDonald’s, and my son’s birthday family dinner at home - and, a four day weekend on top of it!

My Biggest Loser Update:  Down 1 on 2/26 for a total of 3 pounds lost…at least it’s a start…12 - 17 to go  :-)

I find it’s good to plan it all out one day at a time - small steps, small goals - all achieveable. They’ll get me to the final goal - being a mother of the groom in May, 09 - in a dress that I want, not one that hides my body the best.  At the end of the spring fashion season, I’m going dress hunting - hopefully, I’ll be able to try some on in a size close to where I want to be. Every goal needs motivation - that’s mine.

One of my daughters is joining Weight Watchers tomorrow. When I lost weight 9 years ago, she lost 20 pounds. She had to stop because she found out she was expecting our first grandchild. The doctor told her because she had been on Weight Watchers, her baby had a very healthy start - even though she didn’t learn she was pregnant until she was in her 5th month!  Some people are lucky in that they don’t have pronounced signs they are pregnant. It was scarry, we were all worried - but it was a very short pregnancy. Thankfully, Kaitlin was born July, 2001 and very healthy.

My daughter must have been reading my mind. Lori called to remind me (was looking at my site when I uploaded this) that she had rejoined Weight Watchers a 2nd time almost three years ago. Her goal was to lose 25 pounds. She had lost 20 pounds when she discovered she was pregnant with child #2 - this time it was early on in the pregnancy.  She continued to follow the diet, adding a few more calories and milk, during the rest of her term. Emily, too, was born a very healthy baby.

LOL, as I’m writing I’m watching Buff Brides on FitTV - they look beautiful - what are they worried about?

Thanks for visiting today. Visit back each week. Let us know how you’re doing.  Before you click to another page, share your thoughts, helpful tips, recipes, links, etc. - I need all the help I can get!  :-)
